Even before starting Hammered Hinges, when I owned a small furniture company, I photographed beautiful antique ironwork for new ideas for my custom woodwork. I often found inspiration locally in Lancaster & Chester counties, but also when I traveled.
The Bird Hinge Collection in this series was created after I photographed a passageway door hinge in a home in Chester County, PA. The other new designs I discovered while doing additional research on 18th century iron works, including the classic and absolutely wonderful book Early American Wrought Iron by Albert Sonn.
I have had a truly enjoyable time creating this new cabinet hardware and I hope these unusual hinges will allow you new design flexibility, and functionality, in your furniture and cabinet making endeavors.
